2.5 The Advanced Configuration Panel

The advanced configuration panel allows you to change the core technical details of your XRIs, therefore it is only recommended for users familiar with the XRI resolution process.

Things you can do in the advanced configuration panel:

  • See an overview of authority IDs and synonyms of your XRI.
  • View a list of service endpoints associated with the authority of your XRI. Service endpoints can be compared to entries in the zone files of a domain name server and determinate how your XRI behaves when it is resolved.
  • Add a new service endpoint using either a graphical user interface or a simple textbox for entering the XML source code. In both cases, we provide several templates for the most common types of service endpoints to be added.
  • View a list of external references of your XRI.
  • Add a new external reference to your XRI.

One common situation in which you may want to manually add a service endpoint to your XRI is if you intend to set up your own authority resolution server (e.g running OpenXRI). For example, if you have registered @free*earth and want your own server to resolve requests to @free*earth*moon and other sub-XRIs (community i-names), you would have to manually add an authority resolution service endpoint, which points to your own server.
